On our recent family holiday to Florida, it was a great opportunity, as a business owner, to get some inspiration from the ‘experts’ who draw in a huge crowd every single day.
They really know what they’re doing to make every visitors experience magical so that they want to keep going back.
Here are some lessons that I learnt that can easily be implement in any type of business.
Make it easy for customers to buy from you
With so many attractions to choose from (think 10 x ‘main theme parks’, 4 x waterparks and too many more to mention), you really are spoilt for choice.
Some of the attractions make transport easy for customers.
At Disney, all you need to do is get to Magic Kingdom and from there you can access the free Disney buses to the other parks (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios etc).
For Universal Studios (and Islands of Adventure which is next door), they offer a free shuttle service at certain points on International Drive.
This makes the customers experience easier and enjoyable to not have to think too much about how to get somewhere.
Give customers options to upgrade
When we went to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World and Busch Gardens, we had the opportunity to purchase a fast pass. This is an extra on top of your park tickets but it means that you bypass the normal queues for rides so you get on them much quicker.
We took advantage of them and found it perfect for us as we got to do lots more things and it meant we avoided long queues with a 7 year old and bored toddler in tow!
In Aquatica water park, you could rent a cabana which is a gazebo with a fan, fridge full of bottled water, towels and sun loungers. These were in great locations away from the hustle of everyone else and a brilliant idea.
We took advantage of this and found our day at the water park to be a lot more relaxing; when Kenzie was asleep, she was in the shade (out of 34 degree heat), had a fan going, away from the noise of everyone else so that she wasn’t disturbed. We could come out of the heat for a break with Megan and get some water … not having to carry money around to buy drinks.
Watch out for my next lessons learned article coming next week.
