Welcome to a brand new blog series where I’m going to share with you some AWESOME business mums who are totally rocking it!!
Today it’s all about Julia …
What is the biggest challenge you face as a mum and business owner?
My biggest challenge is maintaining balance between all the roles I have. It’s something that I work on often, trying to find the best way forward with everything I face as a mum in business, a parent of children with additional needs as well as ensuring that my mental health stays intact
What do you think is the biggest transferrable skills from mum and business?
Oh, there’s loads!
I particularly feel that resilience is a transferable and important skill – which we tend to learn the hard way!
What do you think to the term ‘mumpreneur’? Love it, hate it, don’t care it’s just a word, don’t resonate with it.
I’ve been called worse!
It’s a name, a label, a term that people tend to use to describe us, but it doesn’t bother me at all
How do you deal with curve balls?
By firstly accepting that we will be thrown tons of curveballs in life, they don’t scare me. I have been hit by many and have been able to work with it
I have a mantra, and it’s ‘Focus on what I can do, rather than what I can’t’
So, due to Covid and having to home school my eldest son, I can’t take 1-1 clients for physical therapies but I can still support virtually, put together aromatherapy and herbal blends that can be posted to them
What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
That marketing a business and learning how to run a business is more important than having a product to sell or service to offer
What are your top tips for other mums in business?
Don’t let lack of skills prevent you from moving forward in your business, I found that a lot of businesses fail because business owners come across an issue and much rather quit than work through any issues
Get support where you can and seek out those who have been in your situation
Try and work through any potential pitfalls, before you think about throwing in the towel
Don’t compare yourself to others and don’t ever think that there isn’t space for you and your offerings. Also, try and see your competition as a resource of inspiration
Also, as a Naturopath, I would highly recommend you look after your health and wellbeing. As well as ensuring that you get a good night’s sleep and eat properly!
How old are your kids?
9, 6 and 4
Do they go to school or are you home schooling?
My younger two are in school and I am currently home schooling my eldest, he has autism and severe sensory needs
Do you want to be featured in a future interview?
I’d love to hear from you! Get in touch now
